After several defeated efforts, Sen. Sessions finally won over a majority of his colleagues. They agreed with him that illegal aliens should not get jobs created with federal tax dollars.

But this Wednesday morning, the tabling motion failed 44-53. Fortunately the amendment then passed on a voice vote. Twelve Democrats and one Independent defied the Democratic Party leadership and voted with all 40 Republicans to:

1.) permanently authorize E-Verify, so the pro-amnesty forces can't constantly threaten to kill it if they don't get their way

2.) require all federal contractors to use E-Verify so returning veterans and other unemployed Americans will get jobs created with federal tax money.

When I consider what Senators Durbin and Burris did I'm still unable to comprehend their actions. They opposed the amendment. The state ofIllinois's unemployment rate for the month of May is 10.1%.  And it will only be higher for themonth of June. Yet Senators Durbin and Burris were compelled to oppose the amendment, leaving legal unemployed Illinois citizens to compete with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS for jobs. They stabbed the unemployed Illinois worker in the back, E-verify is a good thing; it's the fair and lawful thing to do! Dump Durbin and Burris, they have forgotten who they represent, they kicked us under the bus!

In order to get rid of Durbin, there must be a viable candidate to run against him.  I didn't even know he had an opponent in the last election until I got in the voting booth.

You're absolutely correct Candace and we have to make certain the GOP doesn't try to shove another RINO at us!

Our best opportunity will be to replace Burris, since he will not seek another term.

-

Because of his arrogant disregard of constituent desires, I'd GREATLY like Durbin to be gone, but because of his seniority, name-recognition, $$$, Chicago ties, Senate leadership position, etc., it is very unlikely.   Much as I hate to admit it, he is such an invulnerable hard-core liberal that over the years, I've even stopped trying to sway him.   Example: the recent attempt to have states uniformly recognize other states' concealed-carry permits.   Even though the law would not even pertain to Illinois, Durbin helped organize the filibuster that helped kill it!!      Grrr.

DWalker, Durbin CAN be beat,  I know it won't be easy. I believe the key is to let everyone know how he is voting on the issues. I don't think allot of people are aware of how liberal Durbin has become. I've been telling people about his NO votes on E-Verify and not only are many people not aware of it, they don't know what E-Verify is. Well.... I educate them. To say they are surprised when I tell them is an understatement.  Durbin is also a force behind the push to give ILLEGALS amnesty, I know that doesn't set well with allot of people either. I know he would love to buy votes for the democrats by rewarding ILLEGALS with amnesty. We have to educate people..... then Durbins head is ours!

Spense, I think you absolutely have the right outlook, attitude, & approach.   I am more pessimistic.   I have a very very low regard for Durbin, but a high regard for his election advantages.    I think the Burris opening is a much more doable objective and where most of the focus should be.   Good luck to us, on either or both.

DWalker,

you are correct when you say the Burris seat will be more doable.... I couldn't agree more. I however think both seats are there for the taking.

For those who don't know what E-Verify is :

E-Verify is a free Internet-based system that allows employers to confirm the legal working status of new hires in seconds. With one click, E-Verify can match the new hire's Social Security Number and other Form I-9 information.

E-Verify greatly reduces illegal unauthorized employment, minimizes verification-related discrimination, is quick and non-burdensome to employers, and protects civil liberties and employee privacy. Initial verification returns results within 3 to5 seconds.

Dick Durbin's political theater was in evidence Friday, when he had a 1pm appointment at his Springfield office with a Springfield citizen. The coward of course failed to keep the appointment. He was only acting(theater) like he gives a hoot about issues we have. Dictator Durbin could NOT care any less about us.... he takes his marching orders from Ted kennedy & the Democratic party, when he should be listening to Illinois citizens. Never mind it rubs we Illinois citizens the wrong way. Dick Durbin lies and says what we do(the rally) is political theater, when the reality is every political step he takes is theater.... there is nothing genuine about this (con)man.  We need someone in office who will at least listen to our concerns......  I believe he thinks we should kowtow to him. Sorry master, we are going to vote you out next election and elect someone who will represent US.

Abraham Lincoln said this: "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."  It appears Lincoln knew power abusers like Durbin and their inability to do the right thing.

Yesterday the United States Senate voted  83 to 7 to  stop the funding to ACORN.  And who was among the 7.  Yep  Dick and Roland.  I quess they support underage, illegal immigrant prostitution, and tax evasion.

Woody, it appears ACORN is morally bankrupt!  The senate was right to withdraw funding.

Durbin  no doubt knows the value of ACORN-assisted vote fraud to help try to keep him in the Senate.  He knows he can't defend his radical voting record......  and right thinking people are after his head!

ACORN votes are

nothing but 'cover'

Bachmann says disgraced group

still eligible for taxpayer billions

WorldNetDaily

U.S. Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, the top Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives, is demanding astraight up-or-down vote on a bill dedicated to removing ACORN from thelist of recipients of federal largesse, or says he'll force the issue.

And a key conservative vote, U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., says unless there is such an action, it will mean the recent votes on that very issue were nothing but "cover."

Filmmaker James O'Keefe and an associate, Hannah Giles, for the last week have been posting undercover videos on the Big Government.com website, revealing the actions and attitudes of employees of ACORN, an organization for whom President Obama once worked.

Thetwo posed as a pimp and prostitute and have asked questions aboutsetting up brothels, importing underage girls for prostitution and taxissues, largely getting affirmative help from the ACORN employees, several of whom already have been fired for their statements.

One of the undercover videos feature a woman identified as Tresa Kaelke at an ACORN office in California:.

Theresult has been that the U.S. Census Bureau has cut ties to Acorn andboth houses of Congress have taken votes to halt funding to theorganization. The problem with that, Bachmann says, is that the voteswere on amendments to different bills and "still have far to go beforethey reach the president's pen for signature into law."

(Story continues below)

Bachmann warns, "ACORN still remains eligible for billions of your tax dollars."

"Anddon't think that the Democrats won't try to strip the ACORN languagefrom whatever bill finally makes it to the White House," Bachmanncontinued. "These votes were their cover.

"They think that you'll be fooled into thinking that they've heard your outrage and are abandoning their good buddy, ACORN."

Boehnertoday called on Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., to schedule animmediate up-or-down vote on legislation to end all federal funding forACORN as a separate, stand-alone bill.

His demand comes just a day after the House adopted that as an amendment on a 345-75 vote.

"Yesterday'soverwhelming bipartisan vote to defund ACORN represented criticalprogress in our effort to sever this corrupt organization's ties to thefederal government, but it was only the beginning," he said. "Now thatthe House has spoken in such resounding fashion, Speaker Pelosi shouldschedule an up-or-down vote on the Defund ACORN Act without delay. Thiscritical priority should not be held hostage to a government takeoverof student lending.

"Ifthe speaker refuses to act, I will file a discharge petition to force avote on this legislation. The sooner we can send the Defund ACORN Actas a stand-alone bill to the Senate, which has already voted to denyfederal funds to this corrupt outfit, the sooner we can get it to thepresident's desk," he said. "Every day we continue to allow ACORNaccess to federal funding is another opportunity for this troubledorganization to misuse and abuse taxpayer dollars," Boehner said.

Bachmannnoted that the Senate had had a similar vote just before the House. Buther spokeswoman, Debbee Keller, told WND that while the initial voteslook good, they don't actually mean much yet.

"Thereis one way that we can immediately cut ACORN off from all federalprograms and funding, and it's going to take all of us pressuringPresident Obama to use the federal suspension and debarment process tomake it happen," Bachmann explained. "This process is coordinated bythe Office of Management and Budget at the White House.

"Here'swhat the executive branch says about the process: 'The governmentdebarment and suspension procedures are intended to prevent poorperformance, waste, fraud and abuse in federal procurement andnonprocurement actions. Debarment or suspension of an organization, business or individual from doing business with the federal governmentis not meant to be a punishment, but a procedure to ensure thatfederally funded business is conducted legally with responsiblepersons,'" Bachman explained.

"Soundsto me like there is ample evidence against ACORN to initiate andexecute this process, cutting them off from funding altogether!" shesaid. "I've already written the administration to ask that the processbe invoked."

Bachmann also is assembling a petition in opposition to ACORN.

Individual states also have started removing their subsidies to various ACORN entities.

Bachmansuggested that with the recent votes in Congress, the followup shouldbe "a thorough investigation by the IRS, DOJ, and Congress into ACORN'syears of shady activities and abuse of the law and public trust."

The newest video at BigGovernment.com shows a worker appearing willing to help smuggle underage girls into the U.S. for prostitution.

In addition, the worker asks the undercover filmmaker's associate, posing as a prostitute, "How much?

"Howmuch you charge…" the video reveals ACORN worker Juan Carlos asking the"prostitute," played by Hannah Giles, who was accompanying filmmakerJames O'Keefe. The two have unveiled a series of undercover videos fromvarious ACORN offices across the United States, revealing a willingnessto help set up a brothel and other attitudes that have prompted bothhouses of Congress to vote to discontinue federal funding for thegroup.

"For her services?" the filmmaker responds.

"Well for the entire weekend…," his assistant starts.

"Are you gonna work for me…," says the ACORN employee.

"Are you a potential client?" the filmmaker asks.

"No, no, no. I want to know what is it," the ACORN employee says.

Theworker earlier told the pair he was a lawyer, went to school in Mexicoand suggests Tijuana as a shipping point for the dozen underageSalvadoran girls they explain they expect to be brought to the U.S. forprostitution.

WND has documented the long history that Obama has of interaction with the organization.

Itwas a video from San Bernardino in which an ACORN worker boasted ofhaving shot her ex-husband. She also bragged she knows how to avoiddetection in running a brothel.

ACORN,which has fired workers caught in several earlier compromising videos, has alleged they are manipulated, and has threatened a lawsuit againstthe filmmaker and websites, as well as Fox News, for the reports thatshow ACORN workers advising on how to fake tax forms, set up a childprostitution business and other issues.

Giles,a 20-year-old college student and political activist, originally cameup with the idea for the undercover project at the beginning of asummer internship she was doing in Washington, D.C.

Whilejogging through part of D.C. she saw an ACORN facility, which piquedher already existing interest in undercover investigative reporting. She contacted O'Keefe, who was part of a series of undercover PlannedParenthood reports, and pitched the idea to him.

Thetwo funded their project completely, and traveled from Maryland, toWashington, D.C., to New York to Southern California to expose ACORN.

TheAssociation of Community Organizations for Reform Now describes itselfas a team of families "working together for social justice and strongercommunities," had been accused multiple times of voter fraud.

Did any one happen to see the ACORN CEO on Fox News Sunday?  She would not give a straight answer to any question asked her, as a matter of fact she spun so much she made me dizzy.  I hope and pray that some one will start a serious investigation on this group.

It just ticks me off to no end that this administration will try to destroy the people who try to keep us safe, ( the CIA).  But let some one like ACORN steal us blind.  And to top it off our two Illinois senators support both actions.

Woody, I think the CIA should be investigated. In the past they have done illegal things to American citizens. Everyone needs to be watched.... no one should have absolute power.  I forget who said it but it still true today " Power tends to corrupt, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I realize a covert agency is a necessary evil, but they need to be kept on a short leash. Without diligent oversight, a covert agency with absolute power can quickly become a shadow government.

I agree if they are abusing U.S. citizens, but what they do to terrorist orginizations, to be honest I could care less if they drown them to get what ever information they need to keep this country safe.
