Mathew Staver on The Huckabee Show this Weekend to Discuss Changes to Textbooks
This past weekend Mathew D. Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law, will appear on Mike Huckabee’s show to discuss potentially dramatic changes to the framework of textbooks that are being discussed by the Texas State Board of Education (TSBOE). Huckabee and Staver will be revealing suggested changes, some of which are still under discussion. The show will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Eastern Time.
TSBOE will soon finalize the language that textbook publishers use to align their textbooks to current standards. As Texas is a leader in textbooks, most other states purchase the same educational materials. The textbook controversy in Texas affects every American because, to have a bright future, we must know our past. America has a rich past founded on Judeo-Christian values and to forget them, or worse, to distort them, will doom our future. Those who want to reshape America begin by rewriting our past. We repeat the mistakes of the past when we are ignorant of them.
Some of the suggestions that have come forward at various times include:

Don't be afraid to see what you see. -- Ronald Reagan
The GOP County Conventions are rapidly approaching. On Wednesday night, March 3rd, Republicans in all 102 counties will hold their own convention at a location in the county seat of each county.
Each County GOP organization will do two main things that night. First, the GOP County Chairman will be chosen (that's a two year term). Next, the 19 members of the Illinois Republican Party's State Central Committee will be chosen (that's a four year term).
Obviously since a State Central Committeeman represents a U.S. Congressional District, multiple County Conventions will play a role in many cases where that post is concerned.
Votes for County Chairman and State Central Committeeman are done by weighted vote at each convention. In other words, each Ward, Township or Precinct Committeeman casts a vote equal to the number of Republican ballots cast in that particular ward, township or precinct at the Primary Election held earlier this month.
The idea is that there is some reward for the lower level party official who works to turn out the Republican vote in her or his area. The more Republicans you get to the polls, the more say you have in picking your County Chairman and State Central Committeeman. That part is fine. READ MORE:
This is why the TEA party movement needs to be separate from other political parties.

More than a dozen pristine landscapes, wildlife habitats and scenic rivers in 11 Western states, some larger than Rhode Island and Delaware combined, are under consideration by the Obama administration to become America's newest National Monuments -- a decision the administration can make unilaterally without local input or congressional approval. Last week, former President Clinton was rushed to the hospital in New York for an emergency heart operation. Medical experts said the procedure was “relatively routine” and predicted Clinton would make a full recovery and be back to his regular schedule soon. To the public, at least, that schedule revolves chiefly around earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. In fact, some Clinton associates cited the work in Haiti as exacerbating his heart condition. Clinton money
man, Terry MacAuliffe, even noted that Clinton’s Haiti work continued right up until the operation:
Democrat colleague Terry McAuliffe said Mr Clinton had participated in a conference call on earthquake relief efforts as he was wheeled into the operating theatre.
We’ll take Terry’s word on that. But, Big Government has learned of at least one other conference call/meeting around this time. A meeting of former Clintonistas and senior Democrat political operatives to coordinate a push-back to the burgeoning tea party movement. Consider it a Democrat party relief effort.
When tea party, 9/12 and townhall protests and rallies first erupted on the national scene, they were derided by national politicos as astroturf or a small fringe movement. Lefty journalists at MSNBC, CNN and elsewhere laughed away the movement with derogatory, pornographic references. READ MORE:

Baffled over his inability to get his boss’s agenda passed; despite unstoppable majorities in both houses of Congress, President Obama has determined that America can get along just fine without three branches of government.
“With much of his legislative agenda stalled in Congress, President Obama and his team are preparing an array of actions using his executive power to advance energy, environmental, fiscal and other domestic policy priorities.” READ MORE:

Well here we go again. Our own State Republican Party has been doing everything it can to squelch energy for this weekend's convention. They wouldn't even publicize how to become a delegate - even the State Party's website never had a peep. READ MORE:

Illinois declares war on gun ownership
by Robert Moon
The Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) is warning gun owners about a new attempt by the state legislature to quietly stifle gun ownership even further throughout the state, known as HB 180.
In what is already one of the most hostile anti-gun states in the country, this bill would impose sweeping new regulations on gun shops that would increase costs and excessively complicate the process of purchasing a firearm. READ MORE:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) unveiled his jobs bill last week that proposes tax exemptions and tax credits for employers who hire and retain workers—regardless of their immigration status. Senator Reid introduced his bill, entitled the “Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act,” immediately after shelving a more extensive bill authored by Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA), the Chair and Ranking Member of the Finance Committee. In doing so, Reid said he wanted to focus clearly on the “jobs message” he thought the Senate should be sending to the American people. (Roll Call, Feb. 16, 2010).
The Reid bill has two primary tax provisions that are intended to spur employment. The first would exempt employers from payroll taxes for new employees hired before January 1, 2011. (§101) A qualifying employer is virtually any employer except government bodies, although an exception is created for colleges and universities. To be a qualifying employee, the worker must: READ MORE:
Pres. Obama Proposes to Cut 180 Border Patrol Agents
Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 1:20 PM EST
Pres. Barack Obama's newly proposed 2011 budget would reduce the number of Border Patrol agents along the Southwest border by 180 and cut the funding for the "virtual fence." Homeland Security said it plans to cut the jobs through attrition, and it would result in increased pay for the remaining agents.
White House senior officials say the move will not compromise the effectiveness of the border patrol. But House Judiciary Ranking Member Lamar Smith (R-Texas) says otherwise. READ MORE:

With all of the political drama in Illinois these days, it might be easy to forget the real fiscal problems the state is facing. The state’s budget deficit is projected to be $2.5 billion with an additional $4 billion in unpaid bills. But Illinois is by no means alone in this problem. Like many other states across the country, spending has been skyrocketing at an unsustainable pace and now, with its pockets empty, the state government is looking to taxpayers for a handout.
